Sunday Law Updates!

Updated: Dec 17, 2021

This article contains links and excerpts to some of the latest moves toward international Sunday laws. Prophecy shows us that the global enforcement of Sunday worship laws, which will be preceded by Sunday rest laws, is the final issue at the heart of the great controversy between Christ and Satan.

God blessed and sanctified the 7th day (Saturday) at creation, and by virtue of His authority as creator, has commanded all to remember to keep holy this special day. Satan has set up his own apostate system of worship with his own counterfeit worship, including his very own day of worship. We must decide whether we will worship God by obeying Him, or follow after the beast and his false laws.

Rev 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

This page will be regularly updated as new things happen around the world, so be sure to check back in again!

Closed on Sundays

June 24, 2021

“But what if God had a point in handing that rule to Moses? What if, for instance, closing on Sundays is good for business?”

“Most importantly, Sunday closures serve an important social purpose. Local communities can come together during family visits, sports games, and religious services. Chief Justice Earl Warren acknowledged the importance of Sunday closures in his opinion in McGowan v. Maryland, a case disputing Maryland’s Sunday laws.

Warren wrote that “the State seeks to set one day apart from all others as a day of rest, repose, recreation and tranquility ... a day on which there exists relative quiet and disassociation from the everyday intensity of commercial activities.”

“Governments and society need to act urgently and boldly and Christians and Churches could make a game-changing contribution to that by acting together.”

…we encourage churches to add value to their practical commitments by signing the common Time is Now declaration, calling on the government to commit to go further faster on UK climate action, before hosting the summit.”

What We’ve Lost in Rejecting the Sabbath – Wall Street Journal

May 7, 2021

“Setting aside one day a week for rest and prayer used to be an American tradition. In an age of constant activity, we need it more than ever.”

In 2019, North Dakota lawmakers abolished their state’s Sunday-trading ban. Going back to the 19th century, business owners had faced jail time and a fine for keeping their doors open Sunday mornings. It was America’s last statewide blue law, and it went the way of the rotary telephone and the airplane smoking section.”

Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith's comments on Sunday voting in Mississippi draw criticism

March 26, 2021

“I can't speak for Georgia, but I can speak for Mississippi on why we would never have an election on a Sunday," she said. "Etched in the U.S. Senate chamber is 'In God We Trust.' ... In God's word, in Exodus 20:18, it says 'Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.'"

Sunday swimming banned under Samoa's state of emergency orders

March 22, 2021

“Many hospitality businesses are already doing it tough without international tourists, but Samoa's state of emergency rules that reduce trade and prohibit swimming in the sea on Sunday are making it even tougher.”

“Businesses are now allowed to open from 3pm on a Sunday, and pharmacies and fuel stations are also able to operate.

Samoa, however, is a deeply religious country and Sunday is a day of rest and worship.”

“COMECE is member and founder of the European Sunday Alliance. The Alliance is a broad network of more than 100 national Sunday alliances, trade unions, employers’ organisations, civil society associations, churches and religious communities in the European Union. The Alliance is committed to raise awareness about the unique value of Sunday for our society and on the importance of a common day of rest.”

Let’s keep Sunday sacred (Trinidad and Tobago)

February 27, 2021

“SUNDAY IS the soul of the nation. It is more than just a fanatical religious preoccupation. There is a reason why the day was woven into the fabric of our society. We have to save Sunday.

Historically, the practice of reserving a day for rest was the best thing for a fledging nation. It was biblical in intent and economical in its effect. It offered intangible rewards such as resting from the labours of life and connecting with the divine.”

Reimpose the 'Blue Sunday Law' (Philippines)

February 24, 2021

Perhaps, the government should rethink and reimpose the “Blue Sunday Law” (RA 946, September 8, 1953) where all commercial and industrial establishments are closed on Sundays. When I was growing up, all stores in my hometown were closed on Sundays. One has to knock on the door of the store to buy a necessity. RA 946 was, however, repealed by PD 143 on March 3, 1973 that instead provides a weekly rest day for all workers.”

The Sabbath in an Era of Climate Change

Feb 4, 2020

“We humans face a set of dire ecological crises…The multiplicitous nature of the crises demands multiple solutions: political, economic, technological, psychological, ethical, behavioral, and even spiritual. Equally needed is a holistic understanding of how we got to this calamitous situation and how we avoid it in the future. Given their continued widespread influence, biblical religion and its offshoots offer one particularly compelling and promising solution: Shabbat, the Sabbath day of rest. A weekly ritual, both symbolic and with real-world impacts, widespread observance of Shabbat done right could reduce environmental harm by about one-seventh in much of the world and provide a platform for ongoing meditating on our environmental sins and their consequences.”
